Nearly 25,000 homes in south-east Queensland found themselves experiencing outages on Monday's dawn after intense storm systems passed over the region, producing powerful gusts hitting 109 kilometers per hour.

Massive Frozen Precipitation and Widespread Impact

Homeowners observed giant hailstones reaching sizes of 7 centimeters in certain regions. The Bureau of Meteorology confirmed that various areas across Queensland had been impacted by large hailstones.

Emergency crews were working to restore electricity service throughout the affected regions, with dozens of response units deployed to manage the widespread outages.

Southern State's Weather Woes

At the same time, approximately 1,000 residents in the southern state also encountered power outages after the metropolitan area experienced its heaviest rainfall in 18 months.

Emergency response teams responded to over five hundred calls for help across the area, mainly for structural issues but also for collapsed vegetation and water accumulation.

Damp conditions were expected to linger along much of the state's eastern regions this week as a weather pattern continued to attract humidity against the shoreline.

Tuesday was predicted as the wettest day, with persistent severe weather risk anticipated across various areas of both states.
